Product Design - Embedded Software, Tablet, Mobile
Overview
iFit is an innovative fitness platform that combines hardware-embedded software and standalone apps to deliver immersive workout experiences. It provides users with access to live and on-demand workouts led by professional trainers, syncing seamlessly with iFit-enabled equipment and wearable devices to track progress and enhance results. The Workout History project aimed to address challenges with duplicate workout entries in the history view, ensuring users could merge, unmerge, and delete workouts efficiently. Key improvements focused on streamlining workout management, improving data clarity, and empowering users to maintain accurate and actionable fitness logs.
My Role & Contributions
As the lead product designer for this project, I worked closely with a product manager and an engineering team to:
Create user flows and wireframes to map key interactions for merging, unmerging, and deleting workouts.
Design responsive interfaces optimized for multiple device sizes, including 22-inch, 11-inch, and 7-inch embedded devices, mobile platforms, and a smart mirror.
Updating the design system to include new components necessary for the new functionality.
Develop prototypes to test and refine workflows for duplicate identification, merging functionality, and error prevention.
Ensure compatibility with both light and dark modes
Collaborate closely with developers and stakeholders to align design with technical and business goals.
Problem:
In the iFit history view, users can see all their previous workouts. However, syncing wearable devices with iFit creates duplicate workout logs. Though these workouts could sometimes be automatically merged, other times they couldn’t. This cluttered the history view. Users needed a way to:
Merge duplicate workouts manually
See workouts that had been automatically merged
View merged workout details
Unmerge both automatically and manually merged workouts
Merge additional workouts with already merged entries
Delete workouts
Merging duplicate workouts
The merging feature allows users to combine duplicate workout entries that could not be merged automatically by the app.
To reducing the risk of merging unrelated sessions, workouts falling outside a designated timeframe were disabled, ensuring that users could only combine workouts that were genuinely related.
Merge individual workout with merged workout
The merging feature also allows users to combine a single workout entry with a merged workout entry.
Edit a merged workout
Users needed flexibility to add or remove workouts from a merged entry or revert the merged workouts back to their original entries.

Device Compatibility and Color Modes
Since iFit was developed for a variety of embedded and mobile devices, the designs needed to be scalable and adaptable to accommodate different screen sizes and formats. Additionally, the interface had to be optimized for both light and dark modes, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing experience across all devices and settings.
